Neighbourhood WatchParnwell Neighbourhood Watch Peterborough is a community who care. It is a scheme working in partnership between Parnwell and the Police. It is a partnership to prevent or reduce the opportunities for crime and increase the likelihood of catching criminals.

Whitacre, Parnwell Neighbourhood Watch is not just about reducing burglary figures – it is about creating a community who care. It brings people together and can make a real contribution to improving their lives. The activity of watch members can foster a new community spirit and a belief in the community's ability to tackle problems. At the same time, you feel secure, knowing your neighbours are keeping an eye on your property.

There will be organised meetings for scheme's members from time to time. Schemes keep in close touch with local police to share information and advice. Attendance is not compulsory but you will find them very beneficial. Please select the Local Events link to get more info on the next meeting.

One of the many advantages of living on Whitacre, Parnwell is it is ideal for people with young children who attend Parnwell Primary School as it is minutes away on Saltersgate. There is One Stop convenient store in Parnwell centre. If you want to do a big shop you have the option of a short walk to Sainsbury's on Oxney Road.

Urgent NHW Alert - Company calling itself 'Home Security' please be aware

Police are aware of a company calling itself 'Home Security' has been cold calling in the area of South Cambridgeshire for security systems. They may also have been in the Peterborough area as have received information on two strange phone calls made by company to elderly householders. In these cases I have heard about fake reference numbers and an unknown telephone number was given. The best advice is to be aware of who you are talking to on the phone should you receive a call.
They are being investigated by trading standards but if you do receive a call from them be aware and any information should be reported to the police and trading standards.

Drugs and cash seized in Peterborough

POLICE seized several thousand pounds in cash and cocaine after stopping a vehicle in Peterborough. The car was stopped by patrol officers at about 11.30pm on Saturday (March 12) in London Road. The cash and about eight wraps of cocaine were discovered after officers searched the car.

Further wraps of cocaine were discovered following a search of a property in Vale Drive, Hampton Vale, Peterborough, a short time later. The drugs have an estimated street value of about £1600. A 23-year-old man from Peterborough was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs and released on bail to return to Thorpe Wood Police Station on April 14.

Free Local Calls

We have now launched the new, cheaper non-emergency telephone number. The new number is 0345 456 456 4. Please save this in your address books for future reference.

The old number, 0845 456 456 4, will continue to operate alongside the new number until April 2011.

The move will allow people with call packages which provide free local calls to benefit as 0345 numbers are classed as local calls.

Remember - in an emergency, always dial 999. You should dial 999 if lives are in danger or if there is serious risk of injury, if a serious crime is happening or if a criminal is still at the scene. In all other cases, and for general enquiries, please call us on 0345 456 456 4. This number is staffed by specially trained operators, 24 hours a day, seven days a week including bank holidays.
