Police activity to tackle drug dealing in the City |

On Monday 6th June, Police in Peterborough have today arrested 34 people across Peterborough as part of an ongoing crackdown on class A drugs.
Warrants were executed at properties in areas including Paston, Eastfield, West Town, Fengate, Millfield and the Ortons, starting at about 9.30am and continuing till the afternoon.
Other suspects were brought from HMP Peterborough or arrested in the street, including some in the city centre.
In total, about 80 officers were involved.
The arrests are part of Operation Riptide, a campaign by police and partner agencies to tackle the supply of drugs, including crack cocaine and heroin, and associated crime and anti-social behaviour.
The operation was launched in November in response to intelligence that dealers from outside the city, particularly London, were attempting to sell in Peterborough and committing violent crime within criminal circles.
Chief Inspector Paul Rogers, the force's lead on drugs, said: "Today's arrests are the result of months of hard work by officers since Operation Riptide began and they are by no means the end.
"I would like to thank the wider community who have provided us with essential information about drug dealing in Peterborough and urge them to continue doing so."
Chief Insp Rogers also emphasised the ongoing work by SaferPeterborough agencies to get people off drugs.
He said: "This is a very important element of the overall campaign because it reduces demand and disrupts the market that dealers rely on. We are engaging with drug users who want to get help, offering them support and warning them that some drugs on the market could cause them serious harm."
